Hey people.  I have a few web related announcements and one non-web related announcement.

First with the web…
1. we now have a Facebook “Fan Page” so search for CONVERGE @ Trinity Church and become a fan!

2.  we will be having our own website soon.  So as long as Pastor Micah stops giving me stuff to do, I might have it up before my internship is over.  you’ll be able to find it at www.ConvergeOmaha.com …but not yet.

Also coming soon…. CONVERGE TRIVIA NIGHT!! (insert Price is Right theme here)
Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 7pm in room #239.  There will be food, a larger than life trivia game (obviously), and plenty of cheesy game show references.  Plus it will be a good time to get to know each other a little bit more.  And after the night is over, we will spade and neuter our pets!

until next time…

Hello everyone! This is Mike, one of your new Converge interns.  I just wanted to remind you all that we are starting Converge back up this Friday night!  We will also be having a “root beer keg” afterwards. This will give us time to hang out and get to know each other a little bit.

Converge meetings start at 7pm in room 239 at Trinity Church. If you have any questions please contact aevans@trinityomaha.com, or call 330.5724, x.3416. See you tomorrow!

I’m not sure if you all knew this or not but…

Licking a stamp leads to the consumption of 1/10 of a calorie.

So, we should all stick to e-mails! Snail mail is the problem, not the Triple Cheese Fat Burger you just enjoyed for your break!

What Do I Do?

Hello Converge,

This is Caleb, one of the leaders writing to you to give you a little background into my own life and hopefully find out a little about yours as well.

I grew up in a “Christian” home, and that is such a cliche statement in America. Basically my family believes in God the Father, and that his son, Jesus, did come down to earth and die for our sins. I grew up, went to public schools till I graduated in 2005. Throughout the process of growing up I’ve been through trials, hard times, and joys as with any life. Misunderstandings, times of great questioning, and times of finding the answers…or thinking I have.

I’m going to backtrack to the cliche statement of, “I grew up in a ‘Christian’ home.” I think the reason that this phrase happens to be so cliche in our generation is because people don’t actually know what they want, or who they are. They are afraid to define themselves. Especially if it is out of the norm. And even though 92% of the U.S.A. state that they are “Christians” I sit here wondering the percentage of those that truly know and believe what they are saying with that statement.

Because we live in a world of fast cars, and sometimes faster company, people are thrown off with what they really want and go for the things they can have now, instant gratification, things that take their mind off the decisions that they need to be focusing on.

I’ve been in a period of testing these last four to five years. Through high school I got into something that I love, theatre. I know some of you don’t think this is a big deal but it is. My parents want to make sure that, first of all this is really what I want to be doing and it isn’t just a phase, and second of all if I can support myself through this profession. I know that it is something that I love, something that I am good at and something where I have influence and the chance to speak into many peoples lives. Not only the audiences, but also my fellow cast members, crew, and directors. I feel it is a field that I have been called to. A field that is ripe for harvest but the workers are scared to venture into this field.

I admit that it is a daunting task, but I know that the Lord is on my side. I know that he is watching over me and protecting me. As long as I keep him close. I am looking to him for help, strength and the creativity to reach those that are searching.

My question to all of you is: What is your field? Your passion, and how do you plan to reach it?
